Michael Guyerson, a well-established bankruptcy attorney in Denver, Colorado, has received recognition from his peers as a Martindale Hubble AV* lawyer for the past two years. Community focused, Michael Guyerson’s pro bono work has twice earned him the Donald E. Cordova Faculty of Federal Advocates Distinguished Service Award.
Mr. Guyerson’s accomplishments include winning one of the largest judgments in the history of the Bankruptcy Court for the District of Colorado in the case of S & D Foods, Inc. The landmark adversary proceeding resulted in a $11.4 million verdict favoring the plaintiff in a complex lawsuit concerning fraud and breach of a partnership agreement. In White Buffalo Trading Company & Diamond K, Inc., Michael Guyerson helped write an 11-month repayment plan encompassing the debts of a southwestern Colorado ranch and additional development property, which the court approved.
Michael Guyerson has written a number of papers about bankruptcy, including “Adequate Protection for Secured Creditors: The Interest Accrual Myth” (ABI Secured Credit Committee Newsletter, June 2011). In addition, he has chaired and cochaired relevant bar association committees, such as the Commercial and Banking Litigation Subcommittee for the Tenth Circuit.
