An accomplished real estate professional living in Hillsboro, Oregon, Michael Safley has served as the owner of MJS Real Properties for more than three decades. Through the years, he has been at the forefront of major real estate development projects throughout the Portland area. In addition to his real estate career, Hillsboro, Oregon-based Michael Safley is a past president of the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association (AOBA) and remains extremely active in the alpaca space.

First taking over the reins as president of AOBA in 1990, he was an instrumental figure in leading the organization out of its nascency. He was a driving force in crafting the policies and procedures that would go on to govern the organization and was one of the original editors of Alpacas magazine, the flagship AOBA publication. In addition to his work with AOBA, Michael Safley has contributed to alpaca knowledge with several books, including Alpacas: Synthesis of a Miracle, Ideal Alpacas from Myth to Reality, and The Alpaca Shepherd.
