The recipient of a doctorate of divinity from Northeast Baptist Bible College, Dr. Mike Higgins is a licensed clinical Christian therapist who earned accreditation at the Florida Association of Christian Counselors and Therapists, Inc. Dr. Mike Higgins began his career as a renal therapy specialist at Baxter Healthcare Corp in Indianapolis, Indiana. He worked in this capacity for a decade, during which time he provided in-home renal dialysis installation and training services for patients with late stage kidney disease.
Dr. Mike Higgins concurrently served as a youth pastor at Liberty Baptist Church in Indianapolis, where he was responsible for directing children's and community outreach programming, in addition to leading individual and family counseling sessions. He was ordained as a minister in 1992 and left Indiana in 2000.
In 2001, he was hired as President and Executive Director at Hope Children's Home in Tampa, Florida. He continues to serve in this role, which involves day-to-day and financial oversight of Hope operations at facilities in Tampa, New Mexico, and Honduras. Among other accomplishments in this position, he oversaw the construction of the multi-million dollar Hope Cottages for sibling groups and infants. He is also the President of the Florida Association of Child Caring Agencies.
