A recently retired veterinary toxicologist, Dr. A. Morrie Craig earned multiple awards and grants during his 42-year career at Oregon State University (OSU). He received the OSU Industry Partnering Award and OSU International Service Award in 2013 and 2010, respectively, prior to which he earned honors including Oregon Scientist of the Year from the Oregon Academy of Science and Lifetime Honorary Membership in the Oregon Veterinary Medical Association. The author of three books about greyhounds, Dr. Morrie Craig has achieved induction into the Greyhound Hall of Fame and is a recipient of the Greyhound Pets of America Service Award.
In addition to teaching courses at OSU, Dr. A. Morrie Craig conducted extensive research at the school's analytical diagnostic toxicology laboratory, where he analyzed samples from veterinarians around the United States to confirm suspected cases of clinical disease stemming from fungal and plant toxins. He has received hundreds of thousands of dollars in grant awards for different projects and authored more than 200 peer-reviewed articles, which have appeared in publications like the Journal of Veterinary Diagnostic Investigation and Frontiers in Chemistry.
Dr. Craig completed postdoctoral studies at the University of Oregon's Institute of Molecular Biology, prior to which he earned a PhD in biophysics and a bachelor's in mathematics from OSU.
