Since 2008, Morton Landowne has served as executive director of Nextbook, Inc., which publishes a variety of content on Jewish life. His accomplishments as executive director of the New York-based company include partnering with Penguin/Random House and Schocken Press to publish the Jewish Encounters book series. Morton Landowne also oversees Tablet Magazine, a Jewish cultural website that boasts over 110,000 subscribers and more than two million monthly visits. In addition to written content, the award-winning Tablet Magazine features several highly acclaimed podcasts.
Prior to founding Nextbook, Morton Landowne led a successful sales career that spanned nearly four decades. He served as an executive at J. Landowne, Inc., where he managed $4 million in sales. He later worked with high-end fragrance companies as a sales manager with Plaza Packaging, Inc., in Bronx, New York.
In addition to earning a bachelor’s degree in English from Yeshiva College, Mr. Landowne possesses a law degree from Brooklyn Law School. His current work in the community includes serving on the boards of several Jewish organizations, including the Lincoln Square Synagogue, the American Friends of Beit Issie Shapiro, and the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary of Yeshiva University.
