What are Gas Law Graphs?
These are graphical representations of Gas Laws. For Boyle’s Law, the graph consists of two variables, Pressure acts as independent variable and is placed on the x-axis while volume acts as a dependent variable and is placed on the y-axis. For Charles’ Law, the variables are the volume, which is an independent variable and absolute temperature, which is a dependent variable. For Dalton’s Law, the two variables for the graph are the volume of the container represented on the x-axis and the Kelvin temperature on the y-axis. For Gay-Lussac’s Law, The graph has two variables, the pressure of an ideal gas on the x-axis and the other variable Kelvin temperature on the y-axis. In all the graphical representations, the third variable is kept constant. Students should have complete knowledge and understanding of all the graphs and their respective laws. This will help them to plot the correct values in the graph and then write correct balanced equations for these graphs.
