Operating in Mount Vernon, New York from 1983 to 2011, Persico Contracting & Trucking, Inc. was a full-service construction company focused primarily on site construction and concrete work, including excavation, bridge demolition and reconstruction. Robert and Richard Persico founded the company, and they built it from a humble firm in which no project was too small to a company that generated more than $13 million in revenue in its peak years. At one point, Persico Contracting & Trucking employed around 85 workers out of its one location. Additionally, the construction company expanded its operations to serve ConEdison as well as multiple municipalities in New York State, from New York City to Westchester County.

While in operation, the company worked on such high-profile projects as the North County Trailway, the Bronx River Parkway, and the Dyckman Bridge. Due to the quality of its work, its achievements were regularly recognized by those granting industry awards. It earned an honorable mention in the category of excellence in highway design for its highway-related projects as well as a Federal Highway Administration Commendation for its work on U.S. Route 202 in New York.
