Over the years, Professor Jake Lynch has earned a reputation as a respected journalist, academic and writer with a keen interest in peace journalism. His work in peace journalism has taken shape in both written and broadcast mediums, and he also spends a great deal of time on various humanitarian projects.

Over the course of his academic career, Professor Lynch has held visiting fellowships with the universities of Cardiff, Bristol and Johannesburg. Professor Jake Lynch is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Sydney. 2020 also saw Professor Jake Lynch welcomed to Coventry University’s Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations as a Leverhulme Visiting Professor.

In 1988, Professor Jake Lynch graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in English from Cardiff University. In 1989, he graduated with a distinction in his Postgraduate Diploma in Journalism Studies. In the years that followed, Professor Jake Lynch worked as a journalist with publishers including The Independent, Sky News and BBC News.

His many years of influential work have led to him receiving numerous awards. In 2017, Professor Jake Lynch received the Luxembourg Peace Prize for his pioneering work in peace journalism. He is also a member of the TRANSCEND Media group, for whom he writes a regular column exploring politics and current world affairs.

Outside of politics and world affairs, Professor Jake Lynch loves to travel, read historical fiction, and attend football matches at Liverpool F.C.’s Anfield stadium.
