Based in Connecticut, Raanan Liebermann heads Signtel, Inc., and guides artificial intelligence informed research and development efforts aimed at meeting the needs of persons who are deaf, blind, and both deaf and blind. Inventing a number of patented items, from the inclusive Emergency Alert System to the Telephone for the Deaf, Raanan Liebermann has increased the corporate footprint from startup level to more than 200 employees, with some 100 of them being deaf or blind.
In addition to his nine patents, Dr. Liebermann has developed numerous patent pending technologies. He has also created a public domain language called Touch Language that moves beyond vocabulary and grammar, being solely based on concepts, aiming in serving the specific communication needs of those who are blind or blind and deaf.
Dr. Liebermann maintains a strong community presence and was recognized by the City of New Haven for his extracurricular work in launching and managing the New Haven Police Stress Unit over the course of a decade. Also creating and guiding the municipality’s police department hostage negotiation team, Raanan Liebermann earned Board of Police Commissioners and the City of New Haven Police Department commendation.
