A prospective medical school student completing courses at Israel's Hadassah College, Rachael Deis previously completed a bachelor's degree in biological sciences with a concentration in pathology at Drexel University, where she earned entry into the Beta Beta Beta biological honor society, Phi Delta Epsilon medical honor society, and Order of Omega national academic honor society. Rachael Deis also minored in sociology and Judaic studies and received the Josephine and Julius Cohen Award for excellence in the latter subject.

Prior to completing her degree in 2017, Rachael Deis worked as a research assistant with Drexel's department of sociology, where she contributed to a project examining the HIV testing, stigma, and social networks among African immigrants living in Philadelphia. She previously completed a nine-month stint as a research assistant with the Lankenau Medical Center and gained premed clinical experience in public and private hospitals throughout Toledo, Spain. Additionally, Ms. Deis has volunteered with the Lankenau Medical Center and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
