A veteran of the United States Army, Dr. Rafael Schulze left his native Puerto Rico to attend the United States Military Academy to study mechanical engineering management. He received his undergraduate degree in 1990 and, subsequently, brought his skills to remote areas of Central and South America.
While in Latin America, Dr. Rafael Schulze served as a platoon leader in humanitarian construction projects in Panama and Honduras. After an additional three years of service as an operations officer, he returned to Puerto Rico to attend medical school as a recipient of the Army's Health Professions Scholarship Program.
Dr. Rafael Schulze also completed an internship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and served as a clinic commander in South Korea, ultimately returning to the United States to complete his residency in dermatology. He then began a fellowship in advanced dermatological surgery with Dr. Greg Morganroth. Under Dr. Morganroth's tutelage, Dr. Schulze learned Mohs Micrographic Surgery, a technique that involves the excision of skin cancer and restoration of the affected area, as well as a variety of advanced skin surgery techniques.
After completing his fellowship, Dr. Rafael Schulze accepted a position at the San Antonio Military Medical Center, where he balanced patient care with instructing residents in dermatology. He has since relocated to Florida and now serves as a Mohs surgeon at Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery.
