Dedicated to treating disorders of the retina and vitreous, Retina Associates employs a full staff of board-certified ophthalmic surgeons, including Cameron Javid, MD, April Harris, MD, Egbert Saavedra, MD, and Mark Walsh, MD. The practice, based in Tucson, AZ, provides diagnostic, medical and surgical services for individuals affected by conditions such as macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, retinal detachment, and tumors involving the back of the eye.

Each patient’s initial appointment at Retina Associates includes an in-depth examination to discover any issues with the vitreous or retina, followed by a consultation with one of the surgeons. During this meeting, the doctor will explain the patient’s diagnosis and the available treatments. The practice will also communicate with the patient’s referring physician and other medical professionals involved in his or her care.

In addition to their clinical work at Retina Associates, the physicians including, Cameron Javid, MD, help train the next generation of ophthalmologists. Dr Javid is a clinical associate professor of ophthalmology at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson. He completed his retina fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary-Harvard medical school. April Harris, MD, conducted her retina fellowship at the University of Texas at Dallas; Egbert Saavedra, MD, completed his fellowship training in retina at the Wilmer Eye Institute/ Johns Hopkins Hospital; and Mark Walsh, MD, was fellowship trained at Associated Retinal Consultants.
