What’s up, I’m Robyn. FAA licensed for commercial: aerial videography; photography; survey; search and rescue using aerial robotics via a 333 exemption. I am also a FAA rated fixed wing (airplane) & rotorcraft (helicopter) pilot; Soon to pursue the Part 107 as an additional commercial UAV license as well.
I have 9+ years managing computer data centers, 5+ years managing avionics service centers and over 33 combined years experience in electrical, aviation, wireless datacom and computer engineering fields.
I was laid off from my data center management position in October 2014 and took that opportunity to turn my aviation hobby and knowledge of data management into a business model for aerial data acquisition, post production, and hosting.
While building my business, I agreed to help a colleague with the management of her Med Spa Business in October of 2015. I am currently continuing that project while working to find a permanent replacement for my position in that company. As I desire to use my talents and knowledge to return to the IT and DataCenter business sectors.
As the unmanned aerial vehicle industry, the information technology sector is a fast paced ever evolving industry. I have signed up for some refresher courses like the process for Linux+ certification at Linux Academy. And though I loved the challenges of managing data centers, ensuring our SLA’s were being met and exceeded, I do miss the days of rolling my sleeves up and automating deployments of web applications and databases across multiple servers and geographic locations using shell scripts, VPN tunnels, and SQL scripts. It always felt like watching the perfect domino tumble when pressing the enter key, and everything just happened.
My interest lay in project management since I managed many large multi-center deployments for clients. So I am currently taking online classes via LinkedIn/Lynda and Udemy to study for and obtain my certification for CAPM and Project+, but first as I began to work low level again with systems, I found my interest peaking to start InfoSec training before completing my project management certifications. It’s a decision of the heart. I haven’t felt like a kid in a candy store in a long time, and that is how the security training is for me, so immediately after my Linux+ certification is in hand and probably before that time. I have signed up for and will begin my training for Certified Ethical Hacker CEH and CISSP at Academy of eHacking and on Udemy.
