The sister organization of Safire Northtowns in Tonawanda, New York, Buffalo’s Safire Southtowns is a 120-bed elder-care residence and skilled nursing facility that employs more than 150 people and contracts with nearly 40 more. This workforce provides services ranging from housekeeping and laundering to social work. The facility also offers residents a range of voluntary social and recreational activities and an on-site hairdresser to ensure that they look good whatever they choose to do.
The health care staff at Safire Southtowns provides skilled nursing and dental services as well as occupational therapy and both physical and speech rehabilitation. Many of the facility’s direct caregivers have worked there for over 10 years.
To inform and augment its caregiving activities, Safire Southtowns actively supports affiliations with the American Health Care Association, Western New York Mutual Aid, the Western New York Alzheimer's Association, and Hospice Buffalo. Due to its emphasis on short-term rehabilitation, the facility has achieved remarkable success discharging patients back into the community.
