As co-founder of Mercedes Homes in Melbourne, Florida, Scott Buescher spent 30 years as chief operating officer of a company that built thousands of homes annually in Florida, Texas, and the Carolinas. It built some 6,000 units and managed $1.7 billion in revenue. It was also the second-largest private builder in the country, with more than 2,400 employees. During Scott Buescher’s tenure, Mercedes Homes won the National Housing Quality Award, representing the highest level of quality achievement in the housing industry. He also led the company to win recognition as one of the best companies to work for.
Mr. Buescher enjoyed innovation and worked in conjunction with the University of Florida, Building America, Winter & Associates, FEMA, and other organizations to develop a poured-wall system and other construction techniques that made the company’s homes safer and stronger as well as more energy-efficient. He was also interested in hurricane-resistant construction technology.
He earned a bachelor of science in business and economics and was involved in Project SEARCH of Brevard and the United Way Board of Directors in Melbourne.
