A Florida-based entrepreneur, Scott Rusis is a former United States Marine Corpsmen who spent four years on a Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team, where he was responsible for guarding nuclear naval installations. After leaving the military, Scott Rusis joined law enforcement in 1994 and spent the following 13 years serving as a SWAT officer and narcotics detective for several agencies.
During this time, Mr. Rusis also established his first business, Basic Black, which produces bullet-resistant equipment for law enforcement professionals and where he serves as director of operations. In the role, he ensures that a high level of product customization is available to his clients while also leading an international development and engineering team focused on meeting the highest quality standards.
Since 2008, Scott Rusis has also owned Black Dog Mechanical, a plumbing company that specializes in working with military clients. Alongside being a graduate of the St. Augustine Tech Law Enforcement Academy, he holds an associate degree in criminal justice from Santa Fe Community College.
