Solon Phillips of Bowie, Maryland, has built a more than two-decade career in the legal field. Licensed to practice law in Alabama and the District of Columbia, he serves as a law instructor and legal consultant with the Paralegal Institute of Washington, D.C. In this part-time position, which he has held since March 2018, Solon Phillips develops curriculum, teaches courses, and undertakes other responsibilities aimed at preparing students for a career in the law.

Prior to joining the Paralegal Institute of Washington, D.C., Solon Phillips drew on his legal skills to carry out duties as a project manager and director of research and policy with the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania law firm Schutjer Bogar, LLP. Prior to this, he spent more than eight years with Arnold & Porter, LLP. Initially hired as a law clerk, Mr. Phillips rose to senior law clerk after two years with this Washington, D.C. firm. In this position, he provided support and subject-matter expertise to attorneys involved in cases covering a variety of practice areas.

Solon Phillips holds a JD from the American University Washington College of Law. While pursuing his degree, he completed a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Steven Platt of the Prince George’s County, Maryland Circuit Court, and also served as a senior paralegal with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom, LLP.
