After completing her undergraduate degree at Barnard College, Columbia University Sonia Gulati earned a master's degree and PhD at College of Physicians & Surgeons, Columbia University. While a predoctoral student, Sonia Gulati won several awards for her research, including the Marija Chouinard Award for Excellence in Research and the Elsevier Award for Best Oral Presentation by a Young Investigator. After earning her PhD, Sonia Gulati worked for four years as a postdoctoral scientist in the laboratory of Dr. David Fidock.
Since 2015, Sonia Gulati has pivoted to helping companies commercialize their early stage life science assets. She began her work commercializing scientific discoveries at BluePrint Research Group. From 2016 to 2018, she served as Assistant Director at New York Ventures, where she led early-stage life science investments and managed her portfolio.
Dr.. Gulati is currently an Executive in Residence at Kairos Ventures. In this capacity, she works with founding scientists to help them commercialize their discoveries. She uses her background in basic science research, consulting and venture capital to develop and execute on a commercialization plan with the goal of helping these scientists reach the next value infection point.
