As Chief Executive Officer and director of NeuroVision Imaging, Inc. in Sacramento, California, Steve Verdooner draws on more than 25 years of experience in the development of innovative ophthalmic technologies. He began his career as co-founder of Ocular Graphics Inc., and went on to found Ophthalmic Photography Workshops, Inc. and Ophthalmic Imaging Systems (OIS). Steve Verdooner served as executive vice president of OIS for seven years, during which time he led the development of the first digital angiography system for ophthalmology ever introduced to the commercial market.
Steve Verdooner then became CEO and later president of Ophthalmic Imaging Systems. He established a number of new business lines, including a diabetic retinopathy screening system, that led to the company's eventual acquisition by Merge Healthcare. Merge was subsequently acquired by IBM. After serving Opko Health, Inc. as its executive vice president, Mr.Verdooner founded Ocular Development, LLC to further the development of novel ophthalmic devices.
In 2010, Steve Verdooner facilitated Ocular Development's merger with NeuroVision Imaging, which appointed him to his current role. He continues to guide the company's development of paradigm-shifting technologies that detect markers of Alzheimer's disease in the retinas of preclinical patients. The company is in the process of securing 510k premarket clearance from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
