Sue Schardt operates out of studios headquartered in Dorchester, MA. She’s recognized as a leader in public service media with more than two decades of experience working in a range of capacities. She was president and founder of SchardtMEDIA Strategies and, since 2010, Sue Schardt has served as an executive producer and creator of Localore, a national production created in collaboration with independent media talent and public radio and television stations across the U.S.
During her career, Ms. Schardt has been called upon for her expertise in media and technology. She is a panelist, and presents workshops and keynote speeches across the country and abroad. In 2017, she was one of several Americans invited to present at the 3D Journalism Conference in Moscow. Speaking to a gathering of young Russian media students and professionals, “From Podcasting to Street Media, America’s Story-Making Revolution” detailed the seismic shift underway in the U.S. relative to new innovations in audio consumption and opportunities for diversifying the audience. With her leadership speech, “Making a New Story of America,” to more than a thousand media professional at the Public Media Development and Marketing Conference, she issued a challenge towards achieving the founding ideal of public broadcasting to bring enlightenment to “all of the people” of the United States.
Throughout her career, Ms. Schardt has received accolades, including the Michael Bader Lifetime Achievement Award presented annually by the National Federation of Community Broadcasters. Localore was recognized with a Peabody nomination for the New Orleans based production, Un-Prisoned created by lead producer Eve Abrams in collaboration with WWNO-FM.
