A nondenominational Christian organization, The Upperroom Bible Church provides weekly services for residents of the greater New Orleans area. It operates out of a large main facility in New Orleans proper as well as a satellite facility in nearby Slidell. In addition to calling its congregation to general worship gathering and prayer sessions, The Upperroom Bible Church tailors Sunday school classes and religious study groups to people in specific age groups and with specific shared interests. It also provides essential charitable assistance to the community at large as a model for customer service for the Second Harvest Food Bank and through partnerships with nonprofits such as Dee's House of Hope and the Bethel Colony Transformation Center.
In addition to featuring regular sermons by its founder and leader Dr. Herbert H. Rowe, The Upperroom sponsors a range of special events and missionary projects. It recently presented a public address by special guest speaker Bishop Demetrius Sinegal.
