An accomplished business development, education, and public policy consultant in Indiana, Thomas Stoughton has spent more than three decades working with government agencies, corporations, educational institutions, and other organizations. During this time, he has consulted to organizations such as American Express, Wilberforce University, and the Indiana Department of Education. Most recently, Thomas Stoughton served as president of Business Consulting Incorporated (BCI) in Indianapolis.
Mr. Stoughton holds a master’s degree in instructional systems technology from Indiana University. Prior to launching BCI, he served as administrator for the Indiana Alcoholic Beverage Commission and as a consultant who helped craft the $1 billion budget for Indianapolis and Marion County. He began his career as an associate professor at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
In addition to his work in the professional sector, Mr. Stoughton stands out as a civic leader and dedicated community member who has provided leadership support to several nonprofit groups in the state. He currently serves as the chairman of the board for Progress House, which is a nonprofit group in Indianapolis that works with individuals overcoming homelessness and substance abuse, and he founded the Center for Successful Parenting. He has also spearheaded community-based initiatives like incorporating coffee shops into libraries, establishing the Heartland Film Festival, and producing a documentary video on violence that was distributed in 17 countries.
