A university administrator with over two decades of experience, Dr. Timothy Vance Blair became a member of the West Chester University faculty in 1990 as an assistant professor of keyboard music. He received multiple promotions over his time there and now serves as the dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts. Dr. Timothy V. Blair also teaches piano at the college, continues to perform at concert venues worldwide, and delivers lectures nationally and internationally.
His responsibilities as dean range from overseeing major projects to negotiating important educational and artistic partnerships. He supports students and faculty in performing at prestigious venues across the region, such as the Kimmel Center for Performing Arts and the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. In 2004, he also assisted with the purchase of 111 new Steinway and Sons pianos, which resulted in the university's becoming the first all-Steinway public education institution in Pennsylvania.
An accomplished musician and leader, Timothy Blair has received several commendations for his leadership and commitment to education and the arts. He has received honorary citations from officials at the local, state, and national levels, including West Chester Mayor Carolyn T. Comitta and U.S. Senator Robert P. Casey, Jr.
