Based in Danville, California, Thomas "Tom" Whiteaker is a passionate community volunteer who regularly lends his time to the Community Presbyterian Church and the Boy Scouts of America. He also volunteers at Points of Light in Oakland, CA as an advisory board member and the annual Waves to Wine cycling event in support of the MS Society. A stage IV papillary thyroid cancer survivor, Tom Whiteaker cherishes time with his family and is a believer in the power of, spirituality, mindfulness, and meditation. To that end, he enjoys spending time in nature, backpacking, scuba diving, fly fishing, indoor rock climbing and occasionally playing a round of golf.

Tom Whiteaker is an experienced venture capitalist who co-founded the early-stage fintech focused venture fund Propel Venture Partners, where he served as co-founder and general partner of the firm from 2013 to 2019. Focusing primarily on the technology and financial services sector, he led early staage venture investments in companies such as Hippo Insurance, Covered Insurance; Outpatient and Kasisto. He previously served in leadership capacities at BBVA, The Hartford, and Visa, Inc.

Prior to his venture capital experience, Thomas Whiteaker spent a decade in sales and business development with both established and startup companies such as Omnium Worldwide and Rayovac Corporation. With the former company, he developed business plans for clients such as American Express, Citibank, and GE Capital to launch operations into Latin America. Tom holds an MBA in international business and a bachelor's degree in finance from Thunderbird School of Global Management and Arizona State University, respectively.
