Dr. William De La Pena is a magna cum laude graduate of the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara Medical School who went on to specialize in ophthalmology at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). After serving a year as chief resident in the UCI ophthalmology department, he completed an external disease fellowship with the University of London/Moorfields Eye Hospital in England and a corneal fellowship with the Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Over the course of his career, Dr. William De La Pena has received multiple honors, including an Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Since 1984, he has operated his own eye clinic in the Los Angeles County city of Montebello. Serving more than 350,000 patients, the clinic is one of the largest private ophthalmology treatment organizations in the greater Los Angeles area.
Dr. De La Pena’s endeavors outside of the medical field have included owning two different professional soccer teams. He also served on the board of governors for both Los Alamos National Security and Lawrence Livermore National Security.
