An experienced investment advisor, William Harnisch earned a bachelor of business administration degree from Baruch College of the City University of New York and later took masters courses at New York University. William Harnisch earned designation as a Chartered Financial Analyst in 1977, nine years after beginning his career as an analyst for Chase Manhattan Bank.
After rising to the position of vice-president responsible for special equity investments, William Harnisch left Chase in 1978 to join Forstmann-Leff Associates (FLA), where he served as a research analyst and portfolio manager. He later became president, CEO, and majority shareholder of the firm, responsible for managing over $5 billion in assets. In 2004, still retaining ownership of FLA's hedge business following the 1997 sale of the firm, he and his partners separated to create Peconic Partners.
As chief investment strategist for Peconic, Mr. Harnisch leverages nearly 50 years of investment and capital-raising experience. In addition to his analyst and executive work, he is often quoted in market and stock selection stories appearing in the Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and Business Week.
